    General Criteria for all Nominations:

    1. The Recipient'(s) achievements should be in an activity unrelated to his/her livelihood. Special consideration can be left at the discretion of the Selection Committee.
    2. All nominations will be reviewed by the Selection Committee for final approval.
    3. Individuals must be residents of the Town of Halton Hills at the time of their achievements.
    4. Halton Hills residents participating on an out of town team will be recognized only in the event the caliber of
      sport/academic competition is not offered locally. However, only Halton Hills residents will be recognized.
    5. Groups or teams must be representing Halton Hills at the time of their award achievements; however, individual
      team members need not reside in Halton Hills.

     

    Special Criteria

    Cultural, Creative, Educational or Performing Arts

    • Individuals or groups who have achieved the 90th percentile;1st, 2nd or 3rd place recognition in Provincial
      or National competition; or a Gold National Standard; or Provincial or National acclaim/award for their
      endeavors or achievements in cultural, creative, educational or performing arts.
    • Regional competitions may be recognized when further competition (Provincial or National), is not
      provided.

     

    Sports - Individual

    • Individuals who represent the highest level of competition in the community and have achieved 1st, 2nd
      or 3rd place recognition at the highest level of Provincial and National competition, or have represented
      Canada at a major International Championship.
    • Where an organization offers additional provincial competitions, only 1st place achievements will be
      recognized.
    • The Championships recognized for eligibility at the Provincial, National or International level will be
      those championships recognized by that sport's governing body. Zone, division or district
      championships do not qualify. Tournaments do not qualify.


    Sports - Team/Group

    • Groups or teams who represent the highest level of competition in the community and have achieved
      1st, 2nd or 3rd place recognition at the highest level of Provincial and National competition, or have
      represented Canada at major International Championship.
    • Where an organization offers additional provincial competitions, only 1st place achievements will be
      recognized.
    • The Championships recognized for eligibility at the Provincial, National or International level will be
      those championships recognized by that sport's governing body. Zone, division or district
      championships do not qualify. Tournaments do not qualify.

     

    Community Honour Award

    • An individual or group that has brought honour to the community through their achievement, such as by winning an award.
    • The achievement may demonstrate exceptional qualities of leadership, dedication to the community
      and/or personal achievement by overcoming significant obstacles.
    • The Community Honour Award will recognize a maximum of one individual/group per Halton Hills Achievement Award Evening (to a maximum of 4 annually) and will be approved at the discretion of the Selection Committee.
    • The Selection Committee reserves the right to consider additional Community Honour Awards based on qualified nominations being received and accepted by the Committee.
